As a kid, the Summer felt like forever (And I loved every minute of it). It was usually filled with video games, more video games, TV & more TV. But I'd pretty much spend a lot of days saying "I'm bored!?!"
Now, I say "Can we go do this?!" And it seems like Time is passing so much faster.
~
From monopolizing our imaginative fake industries in My Little Ponys to fighting over Bratzs dolls, I've been blessed by having 17 amazing years spent with my sisters & parents.
I'd like to describe this post with my favorite things I've done differently this Summer than the rest! (Hence, I posted a picture of a smoothie my sister made because I really liked it haha.)
Side note: Barnes & Nobles is seriously one of my favorite places. Starbucks + Magazines = Perfection. Bonus=Connor Franta.
Okay so really.
•Family Walks-We all usually walked together frequently before but this Summer we have been trying to do it daily & it's been one of my favorite things to do!
We also like to eat a bunch of watermelon slices after them, and it's soooo good.
•Making things-I was really into DIYs from YouTube & Pinterest this Summer!
•Summer Internship-It might be hard to believe but I legit have no work experience which is sort of, kind of important. Anyways, this Summer I am interning with the League of Women Voters where I do clerical work. I learned a lot of new stuff & saw cool things like old political acts & newspapers of what the League was doing at the time.
•Blogilates-These are so fun & fast and has made me so obsessed with these Pilate-like videos!
•
Summer Class-I'm taking my Calculus 1 credit over the Summer so I don't have to take it during the year.
Now let's get this straight though, the calculus learning isn't so fun. But I love the fact I'm saving a bunch of money & that I get 4 credits worth pretty much packed into one month of Summer. Also, my professor is hilarious & usually lets us out early from class. (
Hallelujah).
•Shopping-I think this will never get old any time of year! But Dorm shopping has been a lot more enjoyable mostly because I can't wait to decorate my own place!
•Photography-I started photography as a hobby a few months ago & I love it. I shared some of them under my Photos♡ page. :)
•New Animals!-Seigried, Bella, my family's four fishes (I think 2 died of old
age over this last Summer which is sad but we always replace them which is kind of happy & sad because we like to give the fish a good home), & the newest addition, East End/Golduck-who is a super duper independent cat that we found at East End Park & pretty much loves anybody. Earlier this Summer, we also rescued a turtle (Jeffrey-named it) that was under my dad's car who I think was trying to get under shade. We released it into the stream-river thing near our house where we know a bunch of other turtles live. But yeah, Texas heat can't be kind of brutal sometimes.
So yay that's it.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely still play video games. Super Smash Bros & Mario Kart are life.
But anyways, I felt really productive this Summer & doing some things differently has really made it that much better.

I was taking photos of the "blue moon" tonight. It was my first time taking photos of the moon! I only had about 10 minutes to take some quick pics but it was so worth it!
F/9, ISO 100, @250mm, 1/125 shutter speed
Tonight is special because there's a "blue moon" out. It's the second full moon to occur this month. Although it is not actually blue, it only appears every 2 & 1/2 years. Ever wonder where the phrase "Once in a blue moon" comes from?
F/9, ISO 100, @250mm, 1/125 shutter speed
There wasn't enough light on the trees below the moon from my view. But in person, the moon was just so bright & ah-mmazing!!
Earlier, my family went walking together at my old middle school. (It's always fun to reminisce the torturous days of P.E.) (Haha just kidding.....) It's actually kind of crazy though because I am about to move into college in a few weeks! Omg.
My sisters and I decided to buy Misift Flashes for ourselves (about $30).
My family has been doing night walks as a sort of hobby for the family to do altogether & it feels great! It definitely makes me feel a lot more accomplished after excercising with my family :)

For dinner, we ate some kabobs & for dessert I made this American shaped flag out of fruits!
My sister bought these Popsicle holders at Walmart putting fruits such as kiwis, blueberries, & strawberry pieces mixed with juice! We got an organic juice called Santa Cruz from Kroger for $1.00 + Coupon making them $.25 each (crazy!) w/Mango, Rasberry, Starwberry, & Lemonade flavors(Ah-Mazing)!
After about 2+ hours in the freezer, it's done! It was so juicy! The perfect combination!

I used: Canon T5i, 55-250 IS ii, ISO 100, F/11, 1"6 (Manual mode) & on manual focus for all my photos. I didn't want to play around with the settings because the show was going by quick & I didn't want to miss anything!
I brought: A charged battery, shutter remote, light tripod, and of course my camera!
I was actually really nervous because I usually just keep my camera on Auto mode unless I'm taking shots where the lighting isn't great. And I'd just bought the shutter remote a couple days before so I didn't have much experience with timing. But after watching YouTube & reading some articles, I felt ready to try it out!
The main things I learned about taking firework photos was that your aperture should be b/t F/8-F/11, you need a low ISO like 100 with at least a 1-2 second shutter speed.
A couple things I regret are 1. Not using my a wider lens & 2. Timing the photos better.
While some photos turned out great, some of them ended up like this!
(Kind of looks like lighting or a video game...weird?!?)
But I took some quick photos & then I put my camera on video mode for the rest of the show so that I could enjoy the fireworks!
My family +Ryan went to the Woodlands this year for the 4th of July. We sat next to the lake where we had the best view! We dipped our feet in the water & the firework show was directly in front of us. (My favorite fireworks are the gold ones that stream down!)

I got two rolls of Washi tape at Walmart for 97 cents each!
Washi Tape Flags!
Cut a piece of Washi tape and wrap it around one of the ends of a Kabob Stick! Use some scissors to make them look like flags! You can also do this w/toothpicks & stick them into a fruit/appetizer plate!
My dad is going to grill some veggies & meats for tomorrow & these American themed decor adds to the holiday spirit!I made extras so that I could have some for when I make fruit kabobs in the design of an American flag tomorrow!
I got some leftover clay I had (air dry) & shaped them into a circle! I've seen people use stamps to decorate & paint to decorate the coasters but I had lots of Washi tape to use up. So after letting them dry during the day, I used Washi tape to cover the tops. I grabbed some scrap material as a sort of felt for the bottoms! And Ta-Da! Done!
Washi Tape Nails
Use that leftover Washi tape to make some cool themed nails!
(My little sis started freaking out cuz she thought I actually painted this?!)

Last Friday, the Supreme Court made a ruling in favor of gay marriage making it legal across the country.
I decided to post this blog because it seems like such a new & at the same time historical happening. So here was some of my thoughts from last week.
Every day I usually scroll through Yahoo News (I actually really dislike Yahoo because some of articles are just full of celebrity gossip & non-essential news). That morning I clicked on Yahoo & the news of the Supreme Court decision showed up. Anyways, I was honestly surprised. Last semester, my government teacher told us that the Supreme Court would be making a decision, but it didn't seem real. I know many people think this has been a decision that has taken way too long. It seems like it took forever for 30-something states to legalize gay marriage & then in this one decision all 50 states are legalized.
Maybe since the 6th grade or a little before, my dad has been saying "You're going to see so many changes happening" involving gay marriage. Give or take about 7 years, and it's here.
June 26 was flooded with lots of news articles, snapchat filters with rainbows, and tons of Twitter rants.
Also, I took this photo on that day of this "groovy" or funky car I saw on a street downtown.
